The 125 cc scooter segment in India is very competitive and it’s supposed to grow further considering the demand for 125cc scooters in India. TVS is claiming that the new Jupiter 125 is better and will attract to those consumers who are looking for an upgrade from 110cc scooters. but is it really a practical choice in terms of design, features and performance?
Features & Design :
TVS Jupiter 125 comes with a semi-digital instrument panel which has analogue speedometer rest of the information such as fuel gauge, time display, trip meter, side stand indicator, odometer, DTE and one new element which was there in TVS Raider also, a Helmet reminder icon which will blink once you’ll start the bike. Now, SmartXconnect is not available in new TVS Jupiter 125, but company said they'll launch this feature after festive season.
In terms of design, The TVS Jupiter 125 looks more premium and has lot of new styling elements compared to Jupiter 110cc. Starting from the front, it has LED headlight, the DRLs are integrated with indicators but the scooter misses out on LED taillight and indicators. There are chrome elements in the front and the side body and also on the side mirrors of Jupiter 125 which adds more premiumness to it. TVS Jupiter 125 as of now comes with four colour options, Orange, Blue, Grey and Black. The body panels have few sharp elements which make it look both sporty and sophisticated at the same time. There are also some special functions like 33 litres boot space, USB charging and a small LED light in the boot, the fuel cap is now in front.
Engine :
TVS will be using the same engine that it has on Ntorq 125 for the Jupiter 125. But TVS has developed an almost new powertrain for Jupiter 125 to cater to the needs of the target audience. The 125 cc engine scooter in Jupiter makes 8 bhp of power at 6,000 rpm and 10.5 Nm of torque at 4,500rpm. The Jupiter 125 offers a mileage of 50 kmpl.
Price :
The all new TVS Jupiter 125 with steel wheel and drum brakes costs 73,500 while adding alloy wheels takes up the price to ₹76,800. And as for the disc brake variant, it will set you back by ₹81,300. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
